dodano 2023.03.15
Are we doing anything? Of course we are! And how! The turn of the year is always marked by writing applications and applying for budgets for the film production and education which means – we are preparing workshops for you. This is one of the regular activities, but this time we have much more new stuff. We are also working on a new version of our website - that's why you can find fresh news on our Facebook profile.
At the beginning of this year, Patryk Piłasiewicz joined the Foundation Council, which you can read about in the dedicated news. In April, the President of the Mastershot Foundation Jarek Żarski will be at the NAB Show in Las Vegas and will certainly bring us a lot of hardware news and inspiration from there!

Stay tuned and check our Facebook

In the beginning of the year we welcomed a new member of the Council of the Foundation Mastershot. It is Patryk Piłasiewicz, with whom we already had the pleasure to cooperate during the workshops and producing a film dedicated to Krzysztof Komeda entitled ‘Crazy Girl’.
Patryk Piłasiewicz is a double bass player, conductor, composer, assistant professor at the Department of Jazz at the Academy of Music of Poznań. Habilitated doctor (conducting). Since 2001, he has been leading the Big Band of the Academy of Music of Poznań and carries out his own artistic initiatives on the border of musical and visual arts. Thus, our team has become very strong in the field related to jazz and music!

W planie filmowym wzięło udział kilkudziesięciu uczestników – statyści, aktorzy, epizodyści, tancerze ekipa filmowców z Poznania – wszystkich połączyła pasja do filmu i niezwykłego miejsca, jakim nadal jest Okrąglak.

Pierwszego dnia omówiliśmy wraz z uczestnikami scenariusz, zaplanowaliśmy produkcję i zorganizowaliśmy pracę w ramach poszczególnych pionów: operatorskim, reżyserskim, scenografii i kostiumów, produkcyjnym, oświetleniowym i dźwiękowym.

Doskonała organizacja, sprawna współpraca i dyscyplina umożliwiła nam podołanie wygórowanym wymaganiom bezpieczeństwa, a zwłaszcza reżimowi sanitarnemu, w jakim byliśmy zmuszeni przeprowadzić warsztaty.

Film made with one single shot is a unique formula and method of work that we are constantly developing. This time we have made a film dedicated to the great composer from Poznań - Krzysztof KOMEDA Trzciński. And this means that one of the most important roles in our project was played by the jazz music of the musician from  Poznań.

Mastershot film workshops took place at the Blue Note Club on the last weekend of November. Abou one hundreds of participants took part in the film set - extras, actors, musicians, a crew of filmmakers from Poznań – all of us a passion for film and music connects.

We spent the first day at the University of Arts in Poznań and we discussed the script with the participants, we planned production and organized work within individual divisions: cinematography, director, stage design and costumes, production, lighting and sound.

The next day – rehearsals. At the film location – a jazz Club Blue Note and at Acedemy of Music in Poznań. Music played one of the main roles in our film – that’s is why we also invited jazz musicians to participate in our project. They had organized a music rehearsal before the next day when the film set took place.

On the third day, the crew of filmmakers, musicians and participants made the film using only one shot at the Blue Note Jazz Club in Poznań. The working title is: “Komeda in Poznań”. So far, no feature film about Krzysztof Komeda has been ever made, not even short, not to mention the film made only in one shot.

One of Komeda’s popular songs – Crazy Girl was used in the soundtrack. It comes from another well-known Polish movie “Knife in the Water” (“Cul-de-Sac”) directed by Roman Polanski. We could use that piece of music thanks to the kindness of the heirs. Perfect organization, efficient cooperation and real chemistry, which was created between all people involved in this project meant that the workshop was a source of great inspiration and knowledge for participants At the same time the project strongly integrated Poznan filmmakers.

We’de like to thank you to the Blue Note Club, Patryk Piłasiewicz and musicians from the Poznań Academy of Music, the city of Poznań and all participants, partners supporting our project.

FIRST EDITION OF MASTERSHOT WORKSHOP IN POZNAŃ – RELATION
dodano 23.11.2015

16 to 18 November 2015 the first edition of Mastershot Workshop took place in Poznan. The aim of the workshop was to introduce the idea of Mastershot to the film enthusiasts and students learning film direction, as well as filmmakers who are involved in film production at a professional level.

During the first two days (16 and 17 November 2015)  Paweł Czarkowski learnt a group of fifty participants about the basics of working on a film. He told also about the main directions of the script and storyboard. He also discussed the location of the film and presented the initial video that illustrated the place where the film was to be made. Staszek Mąderek presented and discussed the most recognizable, sometimes extremely intriguing examples of mastershots that have been woven into the most famous film productions.

On the third day the team of Mastershot organizers along with dozens of workshop participants worked in a film location, inside the Club Dragon, where pre-production process took place. The team acquainted with the site requirements and challenges that generates the complex interior of an old building in Poznan, where the club is located. Teams responsible for realizing particular tasks were created, e.g. groups responsible for: work on the script, storyboard, set design, costumes, team of cameramen, sound engineers and lighting technicians.

Then participants along with the organizers made the whole pre-production process and they prepared the location for shooting that will take place on 29 November 2015. While the production of the main film there will be also made a film documenting the process of making the Mastershot – so called film "Making of". Participants were also invited to take part in that project.

Paweł Czarkowski handed diplomas to participants who participated in the first edition of  Mastershot Workshop in Poznan, organized within the first international Mastershot FILM FESTIVAL. The organizers have been already taking applications of screenplays and completed mastershots to the competition. More information: www.mastershotfestival.pl

There are two ways to submit your entry. The first one: you send a script of the movie that is going to be produced by only one shot. The second way: you send a link to your entirely finished film which you produced with only one single shot.
